Function is based upon the "Release on the Refractive Index of Ordinary Water Substance as a Function of Wavelength, Temperature and Pressure", 1997 from IAPWS. The range of validity is: temperatures from -12 to 500°C, densities up to 1060 kg/m3, wavelengths from 0.2 mkm to 1.1 mkm. The formulation also extrapolates smoothly up to 1.9 mkm in water.
